Residential Vacancies
Centre Director
The Centre Director’s (CD) key responsibility is the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of the centre. The CD must ensure that communication channels are open between Head Office (HO) and all managers within their centre. The role is a Senior Management position and, as such, the CD is expected to take on and successfully handle a demanding workload which involves implementing, participating and monitoring all aspects of the Ardmore Summer School Programme. The CD is responsible for maintaining an excellent working relationship with all members of staff of the host School/College e.g. the Head, the Bursar, the Lettings Manager and their staff
Key Responsibilities:
Create a strong and clear line of management, implementing effective procedures and working closely with the centre management team to deliver a successful summer programme.
To ensure high levels of student safety and welfare are maintained with particular attention given to individual students, school rules are adhered to and to be responsible for all aspects of student behaviour.
Create an effective and positive staff team. To ensure that all staff are motivated and carry out their role and duties to a high standard.
Chair regular meetings for staff and Foreign Group Leaders.
Ensure that communication is robust by actively seeking feedback and acting on it.
Ensure that information is accurate and clearly displayed (eg staff rota, group arrival/departure times etc).
To manage staff effectively to ensure;
- HO receives accurate and current data on student and staff numbers
- That the teaching and activity programmes are implemented effectively.
- Centre administration and documentation is carried out efficiently.
- Damages, equipment and resources are recorded and monitored throughout the course.
- All serious incidents are dealt with and reported to HO.
To assist and support the Centre management team in residential supervision duties including meal supervision, bedtime supervision and additional welfare duties on a rota basis.
To represent Ardmore Language Schools positively and with confidence in all conversations with students, Foreign Group Leaders, staff and the host Centre staff.
To control and record the petty cash budget within the Centre and make sure HO is updated weekly.
To teach, when necessary, but only in an extreme emergency e.g. multiple teacher absence through sickness (applies to qualified staff only).
To set up, close the Centre and submit an end of Centre report in accordance with Ardmore Language School procedures.
To ensure that Ardmore Language School Health & Safety policies are implemented and adhered to at all times.

Centre Administrator
The Centre Administrator’s (CA) key responsibility is the smooth and efficient running of all the administrative aspects of the centre. The CA must ensure that communication channels are open between Head Office (HO) and all managers within their centre. The CA reports to the Centre Director (CD) to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the academic and recreational programme. The CA is responsible for maintaining an excellent working relationship with all members of staff of the host School/College eg the Head, the Bursar, the Lettings Manager and their staff.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure high levels of student safety and welfare are maintained and school rules are adhered to.
To set up the Ardmore office in the host centre.
To make sure that the answering machine is set up with a clear message and switched on as and when the Ardmore office is not manned.
To check the First Aid boxes on a weekly basis.
Responsibility for the general welfare of the students.
To keep accurate daily headcounts for submission to HO on a daily basis to include class registers, fire drill records, fire lists, absenteeism records.
Responsibility for the Accident Report Book.
Responsibility for the Complaints Book.
To collect in weekly staff timesheets for submission to HO.
To assist the Head of Pastoral Care (HPC) with liaison with cleaning staff regarding the arrival and departure of students.
To assist the HPC with bed linen changes & the laundry system.
To liaise daily with HO regarding student transfers.
To liaise with local taxi and coach companies.

Head Teacher
The Head Teacher’s (HT) key responsibility is the implementation, smooth running, administration and, ultimately, successful delivery of all aspects of the Summer School Academic Programme. The role is a Senior Management position and, as such, the HT is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementation and overall management of the academic programme, ensuring it is run to the highest standard to deliver student satisfaction.
To manage the teaching staff to create a positive, enthusiastic team to deliver a high quality programme.
To observe and appraise all teaching staff, providing support and guidance on all aspects of lesson preparation and delivery.
To liaise closely with the Director of Studies and Assistant Director of Studies.
To source materials for the excursion lesson and help teachers in planning this lesson.
To obtain student feedback via a questionnaire and disseminate information to teachers.
To run a weekly Planning Workshop for all teachers.
To teach when required e.g. staff sickness.
To ensure that all lessons start and end on time.
To check class registers on a daily basis to ensure against student absenteeism.
To ensure that all EFL Teachers use the lesson prior to an excursion to prepare and inform the students in their class about their forthcoming excursion.
To ensure that every student benefits from their lessons.
To ensure that student questionnaires are completed as part of the lesson timetable and handed back to the EFL Teacher.
To ensure that every student receives a final Certificate.
To organise and oversee the delivery of Trinity exams (if applicable at centre).

EFL Teacher
The EFL Teacher’s key responsibility is the preparation, co-ordination and teaching of English as part of the academic programme. All EFL Teachers report directly to the Head Teacher (HT) and work with them closely to assist in the student testing, timetabling, progress monitoring and administration of EFL classes. For many students, this may be their first visit to England. It is of particular importance that all students enjoy their classroom experience so that they return home even more enthusiastic and committed to learning English.
Key Responsibilities:
To teach English to a high standard following the syllabus from Ardmore Language Schools’ workbooks and academic programme.
To assist the HT in the testing of students and final assessments.
To maintain excellent class administration including lesson preparation, class registration and monitoring student progress.
To maintain proper levels of classroom behaviour, safety and welfare when on duty.
To complete individual student Progress Reports and issue final Certificates to students.
To carry out residential duties and supervise on excursions (when necessary, on a rota basis).
To ensure that, in the lesson prior to an excursion, students are prepared and informed about their forthcoming excursion (e.g. class discussion, handouts etc).
To advise the Head Teacher of any student who is misbehaving in class, absent from lessons; or any student welfare concerns (e.g. bullying, students who are withdrawn, not joining in) with particular attention to individual students.
To make lessons stimulating and enjoyable with particular emphasis on the practical use of the English language (e.g. speaking and listening skills).
To be willing to share best practice with colleagues.

Head of Pastoral Care
The Head of Pastoral Care’s (HPC) key responsibility is the overall welfare of the students; ensuring they are safe, secure, happy and respect other students, staff and the facilities. The HPC must ensure that all staff are allocated bedrooms spread around the boarding houses to ensure the effective supervision of all students; with particular attention to be given to individual students. The HPC must supervise other staff in night duties from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. for four nights a week. The role is a Senior Management position and, as such, the HPC is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure the provision of an excellent level of pastoral care for every student by ensuring that students are adjusting to cultural differences and that their religious and dietary needs are met and respected; with particular attention to be given to individual students.
To help set up the centre prior to student arrival and assist with accommodation planning and room allocations for groups and individual students. It is Ardmore’s policy not to insist on mixed nationalities in bedrooms. However, we do encourage mixed nationalities in each residence (except where a large group has particularly requested to be accommodated as a mono-national group).
To manage a team of staff with responsibility for the pastoral care and welfare of the students at all times including any non-residential students.
To carry out pre-arrival and departure checks and room inspections.
To run a daily Welfare Desk between 1.00-2.00 p.m. and 6.00-7.00 p.m. (Mon-Fri) to provide information to students, Foreign Group Leaders and staff. In addition, to be available on the main arrival/departure days.
To carry out a night duty on a rota basis (4 nights per week) and supervise other staff on duty.
To help ensure students are in their rooms with lights out by 11.00 p.m.
To help the Centre Director (CD) with student behaviour and liaise with the management team to report all damage incidences and serious incidences.
To assign a Senior Welfare Leader to act as a Leader for all individual students to ensure that they are all happy, participating in lessons, participating in all activities and to deal with any worries or concerns they may have.
To provide integration support, together with the assigned Senior Welfare Leader, for students travelling as individuals.
To ensure that all fire and safety procedures are displayed and adhered to.
To provide orientation meetings for new students showing them to their accommodation.
Issuing Ardmore Language School (ALS) Student ID cards prior to excursions.
To deal quickly and efficiently with any complaints or issues relating to the accommodation and welfare of the students.
To co-ordinate the laundry system within the residences.
To ensure room lists are accurate and regular fire drills undertaken.
To report maintenance issues to staff and ensure the cleanliness of the residences is maintained to the standards of the school.
To co-ordinate all transfers for student arrival and departures (coaches / taxis / minibus) by liaising regularly with HO staff.

The Head of Sports/Activities (HSA) key responsibility is the implementation, smooth running, administration and, ultimately, successful delivery of all aspects of the Summer School Recreational Programme (day time activities, evening entertainment and excursions). The role is a Senior Management position and, as such, the HSA is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.
Key Responsibilities:
To plan and deliver a high quality activity and excursion programme. This will involve creating a highly motivated team of activity staff and promoting fun and enthusiasm between staff, group leaders and students.
To provide training and regularly observe all activity staff.
To effectively plan and manage all day-to-day staff rotas and ensure all activity staff are prepared and present at their activity sessions.
To ensure activities and excursions are run according to Ardmore Language Schools procedures and rules.
To ensure that all students take part in all activities and excursions, with particular attention given to individual students.
To make sure that, on a daily basis, all Activity Leaders provide feedback on how the activities have gone and advise if they have any concerns about any students with particular attention given to individual students.
To liaise with Head Office (HO) on maintaining activity staffing levels, including staff payroll details and rota.
To liaise with HO on the stock of activity material, centre hired items and return of all unused stock.
To liaise with the Head Teacher (HT) to ensure that the activities programme and academic programme are integrated successfully.
To ensure that activity notice boards and posters are updated and presentable.

Activity Leader
The Activity Leader (AL) is responsible for the smooth and successful delivery of the activities programme (coordinated by the Head of Sports/Activities (HSA)). The role of the AL is pivotal to the promotion and delivery of the activity programme, ensuring students are motivated and all activities are run to a high standard. The AL is responsible for making sure that all students are involved in the various activities paying special attention to the individual students.
Key Responsibilities:
To be enthusiastic and motivated in delivering the activity programme..
To ensure students attend the set activities and attendance records are accurate.
To prepare and pack up each activity session ensuring all equipment is returned. Reporting any damaged items to the HSA.
To play a pivotal role in guiding and organising students on excursions.
To assist the Centre Director in opening and closing the centre and accounting for the return of all equipment at the end of the course.
To assist the HSA in maintaining student behaviour, safety and welfare whilst on duty.
To carry out residential duties on a rota basis, including meal supervision, lights out duties, room checks and additional duties as required.
Applicants holding specialist qualifications will be required to undertake duties such as pool duties / sports coaching and first aid provision*.
To ensure that individual students are integrated with other students in activities and on excursions.
To report to the Head of Pastoral Care (HPC) any students who appear unhappy, not joining in, misbehaving etc.

TEACHER

Teacher - All Centres
Teachers will be reporting to the head teacher. The ideal candidate will have mother tongue English, hold a CELTYL (young learners) or CELTA or CTEFLA or TESOL and/or PGCE plus relevant experience.
Hardworking and innovative, teachers should be lively, enthusiastic, enjoy working with children/teenagers with a strong sense of responsibility and education. Lessons will place an emphasis on improving the oral skills of each student in addition to grammar and vocabulary work

Main role and responsibilities - to assist groups of international students on their excursions e.g. London, Oxford, Brighton etc. Monitors are expected to headcount the students, accompany them to the attractions and ensure that they return home on time to host family centre or college.
Must be hard working, enthusiastic, punctual and responsible - not easily flustered. Monitors are not expected to be professional guides BUT some knowledge of major sightseeing attractions, museums etc is expected.
Key duties include
Assisting with navigation of foreign coaches to arrive at destinations
Giving general information about museums, attractions to student groups
Ensuring groups arrive at museums on time for pre booked entrances
Liaising between group and Ardmore Head office
Overall supervision of excursions - assisting group leaders.
